Frequently asked questions

Do you ship to (insert name of literally any country in the world)?

Yes! We ship worldwide. Please see our Postage Policies for more info, here.

Can I send you my bottle tops?

Not at the moment, no. We have all that we need, thanks to a devoted local network of collectors and litter-pickers. If this changes, we will let everyone know. In the meantime, please keep your bottle tops attached to whichever bottle they came with originally, and recycle them properly close to your home.

what are your earring findings made of?

Each individual listing will tell you what material we’ve used to make it! Most common are our stainless steel (silver in colour) earring hooks. There is also the option to upgrade to 925 Sterling Silver, just pop us a request via email!

Why are your products so expensive when you get the plastic for free?

Each Franka product is unique - there is no cheap, mechanised mass production here! As such, each garment or piece of jewellery takes on average three hours of the artist’s time to create. When you buy from Franka you are acquiring a piece of one-off wearable art, not something that can be replicated a million times by a machine. We believe in a fair living wage per hour for the work done to create the products.

Do you use chemicals on your fabrics?

We use household bleach, rain water, Ecover washing liquid and conditioner, tap water and vegan ink in our screen print inks.

What could I be doing to help reduce plastic pollution?

Use less plastic. Buy products that come in packaging that can be re-used (metal), composted (cardboard, paper) or easily recycled (glass, aluminium). Go on litter-picks in your area. Lobby your local authorities to provide and maintain more rubbish bins. Pick up rubbish when you are at the beach.

Aren’t you just creating more plastic pollution and microplastics?

Please have a look at our environmental impact statement, here.

is what you’re doing safe? Can i do it too?

Yes! Don’t worry, we’ve done our research and know which plastics we can and can’t safely melt. We also have a dedicated area to work with plastic, which is well ventilated. We also make sure to work with any PPE that’s necessary.

Of course! If you’d like to get into recycling plastic at home, that’s great! Please make sure to do extensive research before you start, as when done wrongly it can be dangerous. We recommend Precious Plastic as a place to start!

do you ever sell in person?

Yes! You can find the events Franka will be at here.
